Empowering Africa’s Healthcare Landscape Through Vision, Capability, and Collaboration
Sustainable Business Model
Imagine Pharmaceuticals Ltd is a young but rapidly growing company spanning East and central Africa regions as a supplier of Medicines, Medical diagnostics and devices. The management is well versed with the healthcare needs of the region since most of them have worked in the sector for quite some time.
Uganda, and the region have largely made great progress in treatment of major disease burden such as HIV/AIDs, Malaria, TB, Hepatitis, Syphilis etc, however to a lesser extend to NCDs such as Diabetes and Vascular diseases and even lesser achievements in effective Diagnostics.
As a strategic business direction to Cultivate meaningful and sustainable competitive advantage over other players in the sector, forging alliances with strong technology partners with similar vision to manufacture the products locally is inevitable.
Technology Transfer
Africa has largely lagged behind other continents in technology and for that, UNIDO and other UN agencies have advocated for quicker ways for Africa to close that gap with the rest the world through Technology Transfer (TT). The World Health Organization (WHO) developed Technology transfer guidelines for approved and established products in one site to be transferred effectively to another site (in this case in Uganda and other Countries) with fast-tracked approval timelines, without making fresh application for pre-qualification.
Our partnerships will not only benefit Uganda and the region to close the technology gap but will also position our global partners (Transferrers) i.e. WONDFO Biotech, Wealy Medical Instrument etc on the global stage, especially with the development Partners funders and stake holders such as the Global Fund, PMI, UNICEF, WHO etc.
Enabling Factors
Uganda being among the least developed countries is also exempted from compliance with Patents rights in healthcare to allow local manufacturers and scientists to use existing innovation to catch up with developed countries. This exemption through TRIPS (trade related Aspects of intellectual property) under WTO is potentially an opportunity for the JVs to start using new technologies under patent which Transferrers i.e. Wondfo, Wealy, Cipla etc would not have at the time.
Imagine Pharmaceuticals ltd is ready to sign any IP licensing agreement with the technology partner and is ready to compensate for any innovations and products which the technology partner brings on board for win-win partnership that will transform the Medical devices and Diagnostic space in Africa.
